Although I am still affiliated with the Jeff Herman Agency I have moved my focus to micro publishing. This means that I curate (hand select) books and publish them in my own imprints (small publishing universes.) It is a new way to bring content to the specific audiences who want that kind of content.
For example, one of my new imprints/catalogs is MUFONbooks.com. This is where I am publishing books related to UFOs, aliens, government cover ups and encounters in a partnership with Mutual UFO network. Other imprints are Melvillepress.com, TVClassicspress.com and many others.
The advantage in this kind of publishing is the use of marketing techniques that bring together readers and writers. There are so many self published books in cyberspace that readers do not know how to find what they want. They also will not spend on books that do not have some kind of recommendation. This approach solves this problem and gives both reader and writer the confidence in the product and the distribution.
I am a publisher not a self-publishing platform. I am able to access bookstore distribution for certain titles.

Career history:
Deborah Levine Herman has worked as a literary agent for the past twenty plus years with her husband and the Jeff Herman Agency, LLC. Her concentration was in selecting projects and developing them for submission to publishers.
Herman is the author or co-author of over eleven traditionally published nonfiction books including Write the Perfect Book Proposal now in its Third Edition.
Herman is also the author of Spiritual Writing from Inspiration to Publication , which will soon be released in an updated edition to reflect the changes in publishing and the opportunities for digital marketing. The new book is titled: Spiritual Writing: Inspire, Ignite and Sell.
Micro Publishing Media, Inc has put Herman in a unique position to use her skills of curation and project development to publish books that can succeed in the crowded marketplace. The concept of the company is niche publishing and micro marketing. Her hand selected authors are taught how to build a personal brand so they can be writers and writer entrepreneurs. The authors have the support of MPM but are also educated to charge of their career success.
Herman works as a private writing coach, editor and Marketing Consultant.
In addition to her work Deborah Herman has a strong interest in spirituality and mysticism and specializes in books of this nature as well as general non-fiction and memoir. She is a humanitarian who uses her gifts of intuition and animal communication to help as many fellow travelers on the path as she can. Herman is a teacher, healer and public speaker as well available to speak at events and workshops.
Favorite books to read: I am a total bibliophile. I have never met a book sale I haven’t loved because I look for things that are odd and often out of print. I have a huge metaphysics library and also have books about classic movies and associated biographies. I collect books on manners and lifestyle from the turn of the century especially if they depict the role of women. As far as current reading for pleasure, it has to strike my fancy. I am fortunate right now to have friends who are not jaded by having to read so much for screening. They keep me apprised of current trends in good books and I try to read them if I have time. I actually like the older books by people like Belva Plain because I hope someday to write a generational memoir/novel. Don’t we all want to write novels? I have been in non-fiction world, but that is still something I would like to try.
Hobbies: I love to be creative. Now that the kids are grown I can no longer hijack their school projects. I miss glue sticks and markers. So I do my own brand of artwork. I call it automatic drawing. I have samples on my personal website. I have created two oracle decks and an adult coloring book. I make jewelry, particularly with animal charms and angels. I like basic stringing so I don’t get too fancy. I want to learn bead weaving like the native Americans do. I love animals and do animal communication. Yes I really do talk to the animals. I even video tape it and write a column called “Animals love to talk.” I have a horse who is fairly old though he doesn’t know it. We walk each other like he is a big dog. Jeff and I love indie movies and we often take drives to know where and I force him to stop at tag sales so I can treasure hunt.
Additional Services: I am the editorial director of the agency which means that I select and develop projects and take on very few of my own. When I select a project it is represented by the agency. I have a separate consultation business where I edit and doctor book proposals and manuscripts. I coach writers through skype or phone consultations using both my experience and education as a writer/journalist and my intuition. I can be reached through my personal website.

I feel oddly connected to Jessica Redfield Ghawi. She is not someone I had ever met. She is not even someone who was in my consciousness until I read a tweet on the early morning of Friday July 20, 2012 that shared one of her last blog posts. Jessica Redfield, who was tragically murdered in what is now being called the Batman Movie Massacre, narrowly missed being killed in a…

It has been a long time since I have attended a writer's conference where I was not teaching a class. As a literary agent and book doctor, I have conducted workshops on book proposal writing, spiritual writing, getting published and every subject related to the business. This past weekend I decided to attend a day of the regional conference for Children's Authors and Illustrators. It was very well attended and I signed up to learn more about this very specialized area of the industry in the…

I am an intuitive with many gifts that move me beyond the 5 senses. I thank God for them. However, these extra senses do not always explain the bigger picture to me. I am satisfied with the understanding I have with the Creator and my Spirit Guides. My awareness unfolds on a “need to know” basis. I am happy not asking too many questions beyond that because I always know I get the information I need at the right time. I try to live in the present. It actually annoys a lot of people, but it…

When you think about writing a book and getting it published it is important for you to consider why you are writing the book in the first place. Traditional publishing is still a very viable path for writers, but has changed over the past twenty years that I have been a literary agent. There are several "lists" put out by publishing houses each year. There is the front list, which are the books that garner a lot of media attention. Recently there was a headline that said that Amanda Knox,…
ContinueHi Deborah. I tried to upload four different author photos, and got the same error message each time. Three of those were under 100KB . So, I gave up. I tried to update my profile with a picture, but no luck.

Hello new WAE friend, Deborah. Your photo looks so crisp and clear... how'd you do that? I thought I submitted a high-rez photo but mine looks comparatively fuzzy! :-) We're all learning and continue learning.
Dear Deborah and Jeff, Hope you and site are doing well. Sorry we couldn't meet in March, Wed. night. I miss Pat, my friend. Was supposed to stay with her the weekend she killed herself. Early in March I fell onto cement at Oak 'n Spruce and cracked my pelvis in two places. Can sit down again only now. Fairview Hosp. not good with x-ray or 4-hour wait in Emerg. Room. Until next year, thinking of you. Did finish ms. of novel ms. set in Berkshires, How She Saved Her Life--a tale of love, business, arson--with llamas-- on my heroine's B&B land in "Endfield" (Lee).
Thank you for the warm welcome, Deborah. I uploaded a photo of me and jpegs of my book covers. But I have no idea what to do next. Any advice? Thank you so much.

Hi Deborah, I met your husband at the SC Writers Conference in 2006. I had become a fan early on by reading his books. Periodically, I touch base and I sent him an email today, letting him know that I was forwarding a copy of my new Ebook of poetry. I hope you will read it as well, and let me know what you think. I look so forward to getting to know you through your posts. I already know you are both great people, doing great things for others. Thank you, Noa Daniels
Thank you Deborah. I am really glad to found this place. I have been struggling to find publishing connections for spiritual books. I am a mom of 3 beautiful kids and on a journey of helping and healing others. In a very short span of time I have been guided to be much closer to the source and write the channeled messages of divine.
Thank you for letting me in,
Simone.
