While I belong to a number of other "writing" sites, I'm still looking for that one site that is a cut above. As many of you have found out on your own, many of the other sites are heavy in the advertising of either themselves or their products. I'm hoping that this site is more into asking questions as well as communicating fresh ideas to others that have joined. As for me personally, I've written what I guess would be called a romance novel. I can tell you first hand the value of hiring a copy-editor. As many passes (five) as I have made through my novel looking for mistakes of one kind or another, my copy-editor found more than even I care to admit publicly. I know that copy-editing does not usually come cheap, but your writings will be far better for having done it. As for me, it was the best investment so far towards (hopefully) eventual publication. Now comes the hard part -- query letter, proposal, finding an agent, publisher, etc. I'm sure that most of you will agree, writing is the easy part. Welcome all and I look forward to many future discussions.
